The command’s headquarters was initially in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Dallas, Texas. Its area of responsibility included the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The insignia for the 8th Service Command, which was approved on July 18, 1941, is a white star made of two squares on a dark blue disc.
