1st Air Cavalry division Operation Panic Vietnam War Patch
1st Air Cavalry division is a combined arms division and is one of the most decorated combat divisions of the United States Army. It is based at Fort Hood, Texas. It was formed in 1921 and served during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, with the Stabilization Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in the Iraq War, in the War in Afghanistan and in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. As of October 2017, the 1st Cavalry Division is subordinate to III Corps and is commanded by Major General Jeffery D. Broadwater.
The unit is unique in that it has served as a horseback cavalry division, an infantry division, an air assault division and an armored division during its existence.

Lt. Gen. Harold Moore
Harold Gregory Moore Jr. (February 13, 1922 – February 10, 2017) was a United States Army lieutenant general and author. Hal was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the U.S. military’s second-highest decoration for valor, and was the first of his West Point class (1945) to be promoted to brigadier general, major general, and lieutenant general.
Moore the lieutenant colonel in command of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment. Witch was at the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965, during the Vietnam War.
