Origin and Affiliation: This patch, marked “S-MI-GA,” represents the Sedang Hill Tribe, a Montagnard ethnic group in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. They were known as fierce jungle fighters and were recruited by U.S. and South Vietnamese Special Forces.
They form Civilian Irregular Defense Group (CIDG) units and Mobile Guerilla Forces (MGFs) during the Vietnam War, often operating under MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group).
